All of our personal trainers and coaches are required to be trained in exercise, nutrition, injury rehabilitation, massage and motivational techniques.
Our Trainers receive further training as elite Posture Specialists, Pilates Trainers, Pre and Post Natal advisors and a host of other advanced skills.

Cheryl
Cheryl is the newest PT to join the SJ team. She has a lovely way with clients and is already being select picked by many clients as their choice of PT trainer. Cheryl not only works on a 1-1 basis with clients, but also teaches classes and can be regularly caught teaching the Wed LBT class at 7pm. Cheryl has the look of butter would not melt, but when she tells you she is going to get you into that dress or 1 size smaller - she means business and delivers.
Cheryl as always had an interest in sport and exercise. She has learned to appreciate just how much regular exercise can improve body and mind. Studying health and fitness has only confirmed further that she is passionate about having a career within the fitness industry. Cheryl is well on her way to having a degree in this field. Cheryl strives to help anyone who wants to achieve their goals.

Clare
Clare has been part of the SJ team since November 2009. Clare mainly works with the morning and off peak clients at SJ's and in such a short time has managed to fit into the team no problem. Clare is a fun trainer with so much energy and no fear. Clients love the results she is getting them and love her drive and energy - so much so, Clare on some days has a waiting list to get into see her.
Clare not only works as a PT, but also coaches swimming for GCC. This year her main goal will be to complete her full Pilates training.

Jennifer
Jennifer is our receptionist and trainee personal trainer.
Jennifer is in her first year of an HND in Health and Fitness, which she is loving every minute of. Jennifer recently completed her Pilates training, and even though she had the least experience in the group of professionals training - she was by far one of the best there. She flew through the training no problem. At the start of 2010 Jennifer completed her BoxFit course, and is looking froward to getting her first class in march 2010.
She is currently shadowing Sarah Jane and other PTs in SJ Fitness to gain experience in Personal Training and Pilates - she is well on her way to becoming a great trainer.

Michelle
Michelle is in her 3rd year of uni studying Sport Science, Michelle has a wealth of experience in the industry and is qualified in, 1-1 training, sports massage, group classes, Pilates and BoxFit. Michelle passed her Pilates qualification at the end of 2009 and is loving taking clients through Pilates sessions in the studio. Michelle has a lovely manner with her clients, and has delivered some fantastic results for them. Michelle always goes that extra mile for her clients - and it is easy to see she has a real passion for what she does and cares about the clients that are put in front of her. Michelle passed her BoxFit course at the start of 2010 - so will no doubt be putting that training into play in her clients sessions! Michelle has a real love for running, so much so she has helped her clients get to 10k standard - where before the sessions could not run for more than a few minutes without stopping. Michelle is a caring, hard working trainer, that gives her clients 100%.
Joanna

Joanna has been part of the SJ Fitness team since January 2007. Joanna started as PA to owner Sarah Jane and shadowed SJ for over 2 years while working on her own qualifications and PA work. Joanna completed her YMCA basic training in the summer of 2008 and started working with clients hands on from there. Joanna is in her 4th year studying Sport Medicine at Glasgow University.
Joanna is one of the most in demand trainers in the studio with a waiting list to get into her sessions. She has worked hard to build up her knowledge, she always gives clients 110% always going that extra mile...
Joanna was promoted to Studio Manager at the start of 2009 - and is delivering in her role very well. She is one of the most organised, mature, motivated individuals - and this shines through in her work with clients and in her skills as manager of the studio.

Peter Romans
Physiotherapy
Peter Romans is a fully qualified charted physiotherapist, graduating in 2001 from Glasgow. He has over 6 years experience working in NHS settings treating musculoskeletal problems. His specialist interests are knee problems, backs, sport related injury and post orthopaedic recovery.
He has a wide range of skills in the treatment of:

- Sports injuries
- Hip and knee problems
- Work related injury
- Repetitive strain injury
- Shoulder problems

A session with Peter will involve the assessment of your symptoms. He will ask you questions and give an examination. A diagnosis will be discussed and a treatment programme suggested.
Peter can offer the following treatments:
- Mobilisation and manipulation
- Exercises to maintain benefit of treatment and aid rehab
- Techniques to ease, stretch, mobilise muscles and joints
- Acupuncture
- Electrotherapy (ultrasound)

Peter is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the Health Profession Council. He is a keen sportsman, enjoying sports such as running, cycling, skiing, surfing and rock climbing. Peter is also a family man and has a one year old son.

Helen Saunders
Helen’s background is in personal development and counselling and for the last 14 years she’s been helping individuals who want to change some aspect of their personal or working lives. She is experienced in working with issues such as stress, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, bereavement and low self-esteem.
Helen’s qualifications include:
- MA Psychology
- Postgraduate Diploma Personnel Management
- Certificate in Counselling Skills
- Diploma in Counselling and Groupwork
As an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), she abides by that organisation’s Good Practice guidelines.
A session with Helen will involve talking about situations that you find difficult and working out new ways to deal with them, so that you can feel better and live well.

Carolyn Donaldson
Having practised yoga for almost thirty years, Carolyn combined her interests in yoga and nutrition to qualify as a Yoga For Slimmers consultant in 2006, and then chose to leave her job in the BBC to concentrate wholly on teaching yoga and painting in acrylics.
In the past she has also practised Transcendental Meditation and completed the first part of the TM Siddhi course. She extended her training through Aura in hatha yoga to help people achieve their full potential for happiness and tranquillity, health and flexibility, through postures and simple breathing techniques.
She incorporates this with positive visualizations for relaxation, leaving you refreshed and stress free. In addition to classes, she offers one-to-one personal tuition as well as office-based coaching for corporate organizations.
